How will I know when Marine Atlantic has a job opening?

Job openings are posted under our Find Jobs page. Generally, postings are on our website for two weeks, so please check back for new opportunities. For up-to-date information, you may sign up for job alerts.

How do I apply for a job at Marine Atlantic?

View our Find Jobs page and click on a position you are qualified for and interested in. All applications must be submitted online by clicking the apply now button application.

Please email us at careers-carrieres@ma.ca if you have problems submitting an online application or require alternate ways to complete the application.

Please sign up for our job alerts or keep checking our website regularly. Please note that Marine Atlantic does not keep a database of applications and you must apply online for every position you are qualified for and interested in.

Who is eligible to apply?

To work on board our vessels applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Canada and meet the qualifications listed on the job posting. In order to work unrestricted hours on our vessels as per Transport Canada, you must be 18 years of age or older. Exceptions do apply for countries where Canada has reciprocal agreements.

For shore based personnel you must be eligible to work in Canada.

How do I self-identify that I belong to a designated group under the Employment Equity Act?

Marine Atlantic invites applications from women, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, visible minorities and persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity and expression. If you are a member of one of these groups, we invite you to self-identify in the relevant section on the online application.

Will I receive confirmation that my application was submitted?

A confirmation page will be displayed after you click submit. You will also receive a confirmation email. You can visit the "jobs applied" section on your profile to view the status or your application.

How do I communicate that my contact information has changed?

Please email us at careers-carrieres@ma.ca with your most recent contact information and the position you applied for.

What do I do if I have problems submitting an online application or am unable to apply online?

What about privacy?

All personal information in Marine Atlantic's custody is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act.

How do I communicate that I require accommodation/assistance during the selection process?

Candidates contacted for a job interview will be advised that Marine Atlantic has an accommodation policy for persons with disabilities and will be asked if they require an accommodation to participate in the interview.

What should I expect if I’m successful in the interview process?

Marine Atlantic completes a criminal record check and reference check on all successful applicants. Depending on the position, you can also expect to complete a driver’s abstract and credit bureau check. Original education documents also need to be submitted. Safety sensitive positions are subject to the provisions of our Drug and Alcohol Policy which includes pre-employment testing. We have a zero tolerance policy for alcohol, cannabis and illicit drugs.
