Marine Atlantic is a Federal Crown Corporation that provides a vital ferry service link between Newfoundland and Labrador and mainland Canada. Reporting to and in collaboration with the Vice-President, Human Resources, the Director of Employee Experience will lead and oversee all HR functions related to Organizational Effectiveness, Training, Diversity and Inclusion, Occupational Health and Wellness, Compensation and Benefits, and Psychological Health and Safety.

Core Accountabilities:
• Develop and implement strategic HR objectives and goals aligned with departmental and corporate objectives.
• Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of a comprehensive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategy.
• Develop and implement performance management and succession planning programs for all levels of employees and management staff.
• Lead the implementation and enhancement of the Psychological Health and Safety Program, including policies on harassment and workplace violence.
• Ensures a total compensation program in place aligned with company objectives and industry standards, including compensation strategy and salary administration guidelines,
• Ensures group health and dental benefit plans are administrated as per policy and regulatory standards, including employee defined benefit pension plan.
• Ensures an employee recognition program is in place to foster pride, improve employee engagement, reinforce linkages between employee performance and organizational goals.
• Conduct regular employee surveys, improve employee motivation and satisfaction to create a supportive work environment, and reinforce organizational values.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, and collective agreements, maintaining positive relationships with union representatives and employees.
• Ensure all regulatory and company-mandated training programs are delivered effectively, utilizing the Learning Management System.
• Ensure a comprehensive Disability Management Program is in place for timely and safe return to work for occupational and non-occupational cases.
Qualifications:
• University Degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in a related senior management role, minimum of ten (10) years of total experience in a relevant role, or a combination of equivalent education, job-related training, and experience in a related position is required.
• Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) Designation is considered an asset.
• Master of Business Administration (MBA) is considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
• Broad and in-depth knowledge of progressive practices, trends, etc. in all key facets of HR aligned with this role and demonstrated experience successfully implementing such practices.
• Proven ability to establish the HR functions as a value-added, strategic player in the organization’s success.
• Excellent leadership, managerial and motivational skills demonstrating the ability to create an HR team that exceeds expectations within a healthy workplace environment.
• Skill and ability to drive organizational change in a manner that fosters collaboration.
• Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, excellent influencer and relationship builder.
• Proven success leading the implementation of multiple projects and initiatives to drive HR change in the organization.
