Marine Atlantic is currently looking for a Electrician PAB to work with our Facilities Management department, located in Port aux Basques NL.

Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Manager and Assistant Terminal Manager, the Electrician will perform tasks to support Terminal operations and to sustain the terminal onshore preventative maintenance program as outlined in the preventative maintenance job plans ensuring minimum down time with a cost-effective approach to vessel schedules and operational requirements whether planned or unplanned.
The Electrician is responsible for maintaining onshore based terminal equipment, including wharf and transfer bridges, facilities, emergency generators and site lighting. Electricians troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related equipment in buildings and other structures as required and support urgent / Emergency Electrical repair work on ships, if required.
Additional Key Areas of Responsibility
• Reads and interprets blue prints, drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations as well as maintaining site single line diagrams.
• Pulls wire through conduits and through holes in walls and floors.
• Installs, replace and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breakers panels.
• Splices, join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuits.
• Tests continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, following installation, replacement or repair.
• Troubleshoots and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components.
• Connects electrical power to audio and visual communication equipment, signaling devices and heating and cooling systems.
• Executes tasks as outlined in preventive maintenance job plans.
• Operates the Loading Ramps.
• Operates lights and other Electrical equipment as directed by Supervisors and Assistant Terminal Manager.
• Works diligently, to promote a physically and psychologically safe working environment, that is diverse, accessible, inclusive and equitable.
• Assists in the accomplishment of company objectives by performing other related duties as required.
What qualifications do I need to be considered for this opportunity?
Certification and Experience
• Interprovincial Red Seal Industrial/Construction Electrician Certification
• Must hold a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in an industrial environment
